Tips to Lower Your Cholesterol

Healthy Diet:

  • Decrease consumption of dairy products, saturated fats and eggs
  • Eat more fish, less meat
  • Eat more fruits and vegetables

Exercise:

  • At least 30 minutes every other day

  • Learn your Body Mass Index (BMI)
  • A healthy BMI is 24 or less (< 24)
  • If you eat more calories than you burn, you will gain weight even if you are eating a healthy diet

  • If your cholesterol remains high even if you do not have a family history of high cholesterol consult your doctor to learn your options to lower your cholesterol
